AHMEDABAD: At a public meeting in Ahmedabad scheduled to mark inauguration and foundation laying ceremony of development projects worth Rs 208 crore, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel mostly spoke about then Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign visits along with the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Liyuan.
“During the last decade, whenever the Prime Minister went for a foreign country visit, nothing was shown on television.
“But during Narendra Modi’s recent US visit, everything was shown on television 24×7.
“How Indians settled in the US welcomed and felicitated him, how he reflected courage and patriotism and the message required to send across to Pakistan was told by him,” said Patel to a thin gathering at a party plot on the Sardar Patel Ring road on Monday evening.
Further, adding on Modi’s foreign trips, she said that the PM has broken a trend and set an example on how Chinese President came to Ahmedabad and not Delhi and how Modi went to Kyoto and not the country capital during his Japan visit.
Talking highly of Modi and contributing to his development work in the state in last 12 years, she said that it is only because of him that this time Vibrant Gujarat Summit scheduled in January 2015 has received seven countries as partners.
“There was such a rush for partnering with Gujarat for this summit that I had to decline to many and have to tell them that they have to wait for Vibrant 2017.
“Also, only because of the development work done by Modi in my last four and a half month tenure nearly 20-22 ambassadors of foreign countries have met me,” she added.
Also, lauding the Swachh Bharat campaign, Anandi announced that there is another scheme where the PM would set an example.
“On November 11, Modi will announce the Adarsh village scheme where every MP and MLA have to adopt one village or ward and convert it into an adarsh village,” she said.
The CM inaugurated a series of infrastructural projects in Ahmedabad undertaken by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority.
These included inauguration of refurbished MJ Library worth Rs 6.5 crore, inauguration of Thaltej underpass built at a cost of Rs 64 crore, inauguration of Vastrapur and Ghuma Primary School, overhead water tank for Jodhpur ward for 24×7 water supply pilot project in New West zone, water distribution system worth Rs 10 crore in Shahwadi in ciry’s West zone.
Also, she laid the foundation stone for a 6 lane overbridge on the Sardar Patel ring road.
A scheme for youth CM announced a scheme for youth wanting to start their own small scale business during her public address.
She said that high rise buildings would be built on one or two plots unsold in GIDC.
These would be then given to youth on rent or sale to those wanting to start their small business.
The state will bear the burden of 50% of the rent and sale amount in both the cases as it will be given by the state government. – From the Indian Express
