After the Nitin Gadkari episode, supporters of Eknath Khadse have also raised their voice for the latter to be made the chief minister and have organised two long marches in north Maharashtra.
Some leaders also wanted to raise the demand in front of Union minister Rajnath Singh, who has been appointed as central observer for the election of chief minister, but Khadse reportedly prevented them from doing so.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Devendra Fadnavis, who is also considered as the choice of party leadership for CM post, met Khadse at his Mumbai residence on Sunday.
Khadse is said to be unhappy with reports claiming that Fadnavis is next CM.
Fadnavis is said to have met the senior leader in an attempt to persuade him and seek his blessings.
Sources said Khadse was expecting the CM post for himself due to his seniority and experience.
The party leadership, however, is said to have chosen Fadnavis for the top post, which irked the senior leader. – From The Asian Age
